POLARIS – ELECTRIC SPRAY HEAD FOR PRECISE COLD GLUE APPLICATION

Polaris is a durable and user-friendly spray head for solvent-free dispersion adhesives up to 4000 mPas. With its clean and precise swirl application ranging from 10 to 100 mm in width, this electric head is particularly suitable for the economical gluing of paper or carton, for example in paper wrapping applications, fruit tray production, or robot-assisted cold glue application. A 24 VDC interface simplifies system integration and enables direct control of the cold glue application head via PLC.

ADVANTAGES OF THE POLARIS SPRAY HEAD – AT A GLANCE

  • Precise swirl application with consistent application width: clean product, adhesive-free production line
  • Durable spray head with electromechanical drive and no dynamic seals
  • Easy system integration via 24 VDC interface or control via the optional Sirius control unit
  • Time savings during operation thanks to dry-out protection, reducing cleaning effort at the application nozzle
  • Quick nozzle change
  • Flexible adjustment of adhesive application quantity and width (10 to 100 mm)

PRECISE COLD-GLUE SWIRL APPLICATION FOR RELIABLE PROCESSES

The strength of the electric cold glue application head lies in its high-quality swirl application, as required in paper pallet wrapping or robot-assisted applications. The precision, stability, and reproducibility of the application pattern ensure process reliability – keeping both the substrate and the machine clean.

The Polaris cold glue application head delivers precise swirl application with consistent application width.

  • Consistently uniform swirl pattern throughout application cycle
  • Consistent application width
  • Clean start and stop with no adhesive outside the swirl pattern

The swirl application width depends on the adhesive used and can be adjusted via spray air pressure, adhesive pressure, and the distance to the substrate.

Polaris is also suitable for less demanding swirl applications, for example for pallet stabilization using anti-slip gluing.

POLARIS COLD-GLUE SPRAY HEAD – DURABLE AND USER-FRIENDLY

Polaris is a durable spray head, featuring an electromechanical drive, no dynamic seals, and a service life of more than 100 million operating cycles.

In production, Polaris saves time: the proven needle valve closes the nozzle when application stops, preventing the cold glue from drying out during short interruptions. Wiping the application nozzle with a damp cloth is only required before and after extended downtime.

Another time-saving feature: the application nozzle can be removed with just a few turns, making cleaning or replacement quick and easy.

The adhesive application can be started manually at the spray head using the optional external trigger – for functional testing or flushing. The manual stroke adjustment screw allows fine-tuning of the adhesive application quantity.

Polaris is controlled directly via PLC through a 24 VDC interface. Alternatively, the spray application can be controlled using the Sirius control unit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT COLD GLUE SWIRL APPLICATION WITH THE POLARIS SPRAY HEAD

The Polaris spray head is suitable for low-viscosity, solvent-free dispersion adhesives with a pH range of 5 to 8.5. Depending on the application, we recommend a detailed analysis of the fillers used by the adhesive manufacturer in order to prevent contamination of the nozzle. Robatech will be pleased to provide advice and offers spray tests upon request.

Yes, Polaris is suitable for both continuous and intermittent application with extended interruptions. In paper pallet wrapping, for example, two Polaris application heads are used, each operating in one of these application modes.

Cleaning and maintenance requirements for Polaris are minimal. The spray head is equipped with dry-out protection: as soon as adhesive application stops, an integrated needle valve closes the application nozzle. This eliminates the need for nozzle cleaning during short interruptions. Wiping the nozzle with a damp cloth is only required during extended downtime, after stopping and before restarting production.

As Polaris operates without dynamic seals and the application nozzle can be easily removed and reinstalled, maintenance requirements remain low.

Polaris is particularly suitable for low-speed applications in the packaging industry as well as for robot-assisted cold glue swirl application.

Typical applications in the packaging industry:

  • Paper pallet wrapping
  • Pallet stabilization using AntiSlip Gluing
  • Gluing of paper or carton with low restoring forces

Additional applications:

  • Gluing of complex shapes using robots
  • Applications in the wood and construction industry
