VIVO 18: COATING HEAD FOR HOTMELT ADHESIVE COATINGS IN E-COMMERCE

High-quality hotmelt coatings provide the basis for reliable silicone release liners and practical tear strips on shipping packaging in e-commerce. The Vivo 18 coating head meets the requirements for both applications. It applies adhesive accurately to the millimeter and uniformly, even at high speeds. Thanks to its space-saving installation dimensions, you can mount two heads in parallel for greater flexibility in installation and production.

ADVANTAGES OF THE VIVO 18 COATING HEAD AT A GLANCE

  • Space-saving installation dimensions allow two heads to be mounted in parallel
  • Uniform and precise adhesive application from start to finish
  • Cost-effective: apply different application widths using masks
  • Short changeover times thanks to easy positioning and mask technology
  • CoolTouch touch protection protects operators from burns

PRECISE AND FLEXIBLE HOTMELT COATINGS ON SHIPPING PACKAGING

The Vivo 18 coating head is designed for precise hotmelt coatings at speeds of up to 250 m/min. The negative-closing jetting element and the correct alignment of the nozzle to the substrate ensure a clean cut-off. Due to the vertical distribution in the nozzle, the Vivo 18 applies the specified coating weight precisely and uniformly from start to finish and achieves exact edge definition. In the application for silicone release liners, the uniform distribution and integrated quantity control in the melter ensure adhesive savings of up to 30 %.

The coating nozzle has a maximum application width of 18 mm. Masks can be used to easily restrict the application width to a minimum of 2 mm. This is a cost-effective option, as you can apply different application widths with the same coating head. Vivo 18 can be used for the adhesive application of silicone release liners as well as tear strips. Using several Vivo 18 heads also positively affects the spare parts inventory. An integrated adhesive filter in the heating block additionally reduces nozzle clogging and downtimes.

SPACE-SAVING COATING HEAD FOR FOLDER GLUERS

The narrow 32-mm design offers more flexibility in the installation and system planning of the Vivo 18 in folder gluer machines. It is thus possible to mount two coating heads in parallel on one crossbeam. This allows a minimum distance of 8 mm between the two coatings. In conventional solutions, the coating heads are offset and arranged one behind the other due to their width. This requires more space in the line. The Vivo 18 has a tapered nozzle and allows a maximum application width of 18 mm. Folded cardboard boxes with little space for coating can thus be coated effortlessly without the nozzle touching.

QUICKLY READY FOR PRODUCTION: SIMPLE AND FAST FORMAT CHANGE

Format changes should be time-saving and simple to be ready for production again quickly. The special bracket helps enable precise and repeatable alignment of the coating nozzle to the substrate. Fine adjustment is possible while the machine is running slowly. A rotary knob and scales can be used to adjust the height to the substrate. If the coating head is not needed for a batch, it can be raised to the rest position. Furthermore, the exact angle of the nozzle to the substrate can be adjusted, which is important for a clean cut-off. Depending on the installation situation, the bracketcan be mounted on the left or right side of the coating head. The bracket is modular and also allows length adjustment to be integrated.

Do you use two coating heads mounted in parallel for production and want to increase or decrease the distance between them? No problem. The coating heads can be moved to the desired position on the crossbeam by releasing the quick-release clamp on the bracket. The Vivo 18 is equipped with CoolTouch touch protection to protect personnel during format changes. This reduces the risk of burns in the event of accidental contact.

The mask in the nozzle can be replaced very easily if the application width of the silicone release liner or tear strip changes. The two screws on the comb are loosened, the mask removed, and the new one inserted in just a few simple steps.
