CANDURO 2 IS MODULAR

The Canduro 2 adhesive melter melts and conveys reactive hot melt adhesives or thermoplastic, non-reactive hot melt adhesives in the form of candles, granules, or pillows. Depending on the melting unit, the melt rate is 5 or 8 kg/h. As well as conveying the adhesive, the innovative gear pump is also used for adhesive pressure control – pressure is reduced by reversing the pump. This type of pressure regulation is very precise and does not require maintenance-intensive components such as an overpressure valve. A burst screw with monitoring is installed as a safety element to protect the system from overpressure. The various types of Canduro 2 meet the requirements of different areas of application:

  • Premelter: Preparing adhesive for pot filling.
  • Standard adhesive melter: For bead and dot application, continuous or intermittent coating application; also for applications with hand applicators or robots.
  • Process adhesive melter: With specific process software for edge banding or book spine gluing.

THE MELTING UNIT: MELT-ON-DEMAND (MOD) OR CLASSIC

All types of Canduro 2 – whether premelter, standard adhesive melter, or process adhesive melter – are available with a classic melting unit or with a MOD melting unit for melting on demand.

  • Classic tank: In the classic tank, all of the adhesive is melted in the adhesive melter. This adhesive melter is suitable for applications with continuous adhesive consumption and less reactive PUR adhesive types. Attractive price/performance ratio. 
  • Melting on demand: Melt-on-demand (MOD) technology conserves the adhesive, as only as much is melted as is currently needed. This melting unit is ideal for processing PUR candles with or without inliner and high melting capacity requirements on demand.

The MOD melting unit can be equipped with a one-candle magazine or a two-candle magazine. With a one-candle magazine, a press can also be installed, which ensures higher melting performance and is used for melting candles with inliners. In any case, the adhesive magazine is tightly sealed with a lid – as is the tank cap on a classic tank – so that the operating personnel are protected from PUR vapors.

CANDURO 2 IS MAINTENANCE-EFFICIENT

Canduro 2 is a low-maintenance PUR adhesive melter. There are no maintenance-intensive components such as a pressure relief valve or mechanical wear parts. The adhesive tank is designed for optimal adhesive flow, and thanks to the nonstick coating, adhesive deposits are reduced, resulting in less adhesive carbonization. The design with the MOD melting unit further supports this by melting only as much adhesive as is currently being used. This maintains adhesive quality and reduces maintenance times.

For reactive adhesives, an optional protective gas system can also be integrated, which extends the shelf life of the adhesive.

Easy access to cleaning-relevant components


The components relevant for cleaning are easily accessible:

  • An integrated adhesive filter retains any contaminants, thus protecting the application nozzles from clogging. Regular cleaning of the adhesive filter increases process reliability and prevents unplanned downtime.
  • Adhesive can be drained from the tank through the cleaning opening and adhesive residues can be removed. The gear pump can be lubricated from the outside without having to remove any equipment covers.

  • The press, adhesive magazine, and melting grill can be easily removed for thorough cleaning with quick-release fasteners and plug-in cables as well as pneumatic connections.

CANDURO 2 IS EASY TO USE

Canduro 2 works with the Robatech Control System (RCS). This modern electronics system allows smart control, operation, and monitoring of adhesive application. The adhesive application system can be easily integrated into production lines via various communication interfaces.

Advantages of operation with RCS:

  • The user-friendly RobaVis user interface enables intuitive operation of the adhesive melter on the (optional) touch display (external or on the adhesive melter).
  • The current operating status is always displayed on the Smart Terminal and error messages are displayed. In addition, the four practical function keys can be used to switch the basic functions pump, temperature lowering, WiFi, and timer on and off.
  • Process-specific software for edge banding and book spine gluing facilitates process-specific settings.
  • A level sensor monitors when adhesive needs to be refilled.

The functionality of the Robatech Control System can be expanded at any time with the following features:

  • Integrated pattern control for complex application patterns (up to eight application heads) and frequent format changes
  • Application monitoring for fast error detection by monitoring the positioning and presence of the adhesive application
  • Quantity control for a constant application quantity depending on the application width (edge width) and the production speed
  • The adhesive measurement system AMS measures and monitors the amount of adhesive used and reports when the amount of adhesive applied deviates from the defined tolerance range.

SPECIFIC PROCESS SOFTWARE FOR EDGE BANDING

The software for edge banding enables precise adhesive cut-off and consistent application to the wood edge. The software includes:

  • Application-specific user interface (RobaVis) for entering defined process parameters such as application thickness, application weight, and application length
  • Quantity control for a constant application quantity depending on the application width (edge width) and the production speed
  • Option for motorized application width adjustment of the EdgePro coating head
  • Rinsing process for cleaning the EdgePro coating head at the start and end of production
