Hot melt equipment is used for melting down and feeding thermoplastic hotmelts on the basis of EVA (Ethylene-vinylacetate) or PE (Polyethylene) in an industrial environment. The application range reaches from dry (packaging applications) to tacky (labelling, adhesive hotmelts).
Hot melts are solid at room temperature. For the application processes the temperature has to be elevated and it becomes fluidic. Upon cooling it solidifies again to form an immediate, strong and durable bond.
The adhesive melts again upon reheating. Fluidic phase exists approx. 110 ? 190 °C.
