In many cases the hot melt coating technique replaces systems working with water or solvents based adhesives. Since hot melt coating requires no drying or evaporation, the energy consumption is reduced. Various hot melts such as EVA, PSA, PUR, APAO, etc. are suitable for a porous or full surface application with the slot-type nozzle, followed by lamination.
In general a hot melt coating system consists of a hot melt appliance (for EVA or PUR adhesives), heated hoses, a dedicated coating head and pattern control respectively interfacing to the host machine.
