Adhesive Technology

An adhesive is a non-metallic cement which bonds materials by surface adhesion in such a way that the bond exhibits a sufficient inner strength (cohesion). Adhesive definition according to DIN EN 923 / DIN 16920.

Adhesive technology is used for a wide variety of common products and thus used in many industrial applications.
Adhesives are non magnetic materials. Parts fit together by adhesion and cohesion.
The classification of adhesives can be done either by the material base or the curing mechanism.
Classification
a) Cold Adhesives
a1) Drying Adhesives
- Dispersions (Emulsions) and Solvents
a2) Reactive Curing
- 100% Polymere Liquid
b) Hotmelts
b1) Hotmelts by cooling (reversible)
=> Thermoplastic Adhesives
b2) Reactive Curing Adhesives
=> Duroplastic / thermosets

For industrial processes each adhesive type requires the appropriate equipment. Robatech is one of the leading companies providing the entire range of hot melt and cold glue equipment for industrial processes.
